Expectations were exceeded in terms of travelers passing though Prince George Airport in 2016.
In all, the count reached 462,007.
"Coming off of a big year like 2015 where Prince George hosted the Canada Winter Games and the economy slowed down, we were anticipating 455,000 passengers" Prince George Airport Authority CEO John Gibson said. "We beat expectations by 1.5 per cent and beat 2014 passenger numbers by 3.5 pe cent."
A record 470,849 passengers was reached over 2015.
For 2016, November saw the highest increase at eight per cent year-over-year, followed by June at five per cent.
In terms of passenger service, Pacific Coastal added a second flight to Victoria for the spring and summer months, while Central Mountain Air up-sized its aircraft.
Later in the year, both Air Canada and WestJet increased service to and from Vancouver.
Nearly $2 million was spent on improvements that included repaving aprons and replacing runway lighting and security systems.
Other highlights from the year include the grand opening of the cargo warehouse, just off the north end of the main runway, and the introduction of Amelia Bearheart, the Prince George Airport mascot.
