Eight colleges, including the College of New Caledonia, have come to a tentative agreement with the Post-Secondary Employers' Association that sees a 5.5 percent wage increase over a five-year term.

The tentative template agreement involves about 3,200 faculty working at the colleges throughout the province.

Negotiable items in the agreement will now be concluded at the local level at CNC, Camosun College, College of the Rockies, Douglas College, North Island College, Northwest Community College, Okanagan College and Selkirk College.

The five-year term goes from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2019 and the 5.5 per cent could be increased in the last four years of the term if the B.C. economy exceeds annual forecasts set by the Economic Forecast Council.
