A man with a history of committing property offences in Prince George was arrested in 100 Mile House this week.
Jamie Hal Hammerstrom, 38, is in custody in Kamloops on one count of breaching probation after being apprehended on Wednesday, according to court records.
Due to the forest fires in the area, an evacuation order has been in place for the community, 328 kilometres south of Prince George, since the weekend, raising a concern about looters.
In February, Hammerstrom was sentenced to 42 days house arrest and 18 months probation after he and two others were found in a stolen pickup truck.
In June 2016, he was sentenced to a further 18 months in jail for attempting to sell stolen firearms through accomplices while he was in custody at the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre.
Hammerstrom had hatched the plan to raise money to cover his bail in relation to a charge of stealing a pickup truck for which he was eventually acquitted after Crown prosecution was unable to prove the identity of the thief beyond reasonable doubt.
His record also includes a conviction for possession of a break-in instrument for which he was sentenced to one year probation in January 2016.
A bail hearing was scheduled today for Hammerstrom.
Also, another man, Kurtis Justin Billy, 30, was to appear in Quesnel provincial court today for a bail hearing on two counts of possession of stolen property, from an arrest Sunday in Williams Lake.
Billy also faces one count each of driving while disqualified under and dangerous driving, both under the Criminal Code.
