CNC is adding to its official art collection.
On Thursday the College of New Caledonia announced it was taking in 16 works of original art, all of them created by students from their Fine Arts program and Web & Graphic Design program - 10 pupils in all.
"For the past few years, CNC has invested in the work of its students to put on display throughout the college," said college spokesperson Dustin Ruth.
The unveiling was led by CNC Fine Arts instructor Betty Kovacic with the help of student liaison Joseph Cunningham who had pieces in the new intake, plus Hailey Soderman, Sebastian Nicholson, Miya Fast, Emma Lucas, Hannah Nainchtein, Jessica Drougel-Smith, Kaitlyn Langille-Herlehey, Taylor Raymond and Keeanna Holden.
"When the college invests in student art, it not only beautifies the campus but also acknowledges the hard work of the talented and creative students in the Fine Arts and Web & Graphic Design programs," said Sean Siddals, coordinator of both courses.
A selection committee made up of Fine Arts faculty formed to review the student art submissions and out of that process 16 were selected for purchase. These works of art will be added to the CNC student art collection, which is displayed throughout the Prince George campus.
"CNC staff will have the opportunity to put their name in a draw for the chance to 'sign out' a piece and display it in their office or department," said Ruth.
Local art gallery Direct Art contributed to the process by providing a generous discount on the framing of the work.
