A glimpse into the world of medicine is on offer this fall during the inaugural launch of Mini Med School at the University of Northern B.C.

The open-to-the-public six-session night course will begin Oct. 11 and end with a mini-grad Nov. 15 for those who want to know what it's like to be a student in the Northern Medical Program.

"Our Mini Med School will give people a sneak peek into how medicine works,"

Dr. Malgorzata Kaminska, NMP assistant professor, local family physician, and organizer of the new NMP Mini Med School, said.

"They will get a chance to learn about basic sciences, research, the patient experience and much more. If you have ever wanted to get a taste of medical school, without the long hours and ten-plus years of commitment, this is your chance."

Topics covered during the fall course includes how doctors reach a diagnosis, how bones heal, and dealing with trauma in the emergency room.

Presenters include faculty from the Northern Medical Program and participants will experience hands-on learning.

Registration is $30 for the six-week program.
