Forward Chong Hyun Lee has committed to the Prince George Spruce Kings for the 2016-17 B.C. Hockey League season.
Lee, a 19-year-old from Vancouver, is currently an affiliated player with the Spruce Kings and has appeared in four games this season. In those contests, he has contributed one goal and two assists. He will try to add to his totals when he skates for the Kings on Thursday at the Coliseum against the Chilliwack Chiefs. Lee will also be in the lineup for a Saturday home game against the Merritt Centennials and a Feb. 3 home-ice tilt against the Vernon Vipers.
"Chong Hyun is a great young man and a tremendously skilled player," said Kings general manager Mike Hawes. "The addition of Chong Hyun to our full-time roster for next season adds some size, speed and skill to our forward group. We're excited to add such a dynamic player to our team."
This season, the six-foot-one, 198-pound Lee is a regular with the Port Moody Panthers of the Pacific Junior (B) Hockey League. He recently competed for Korea in Division 2A of the world juniors and is also a member of the Korean senior national team that will skate at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Lee was a 2013 draft pick (64th overall) of Admiral Vladivostok of the Kontinental Hockey League, based in Russia.
