A conflict in John Herdman's schedule has forced a date change for the UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast.

Originally planned for March 15, the event has been pushed back to Wednesday, March 30. Herdman, head coach of the Canadian national women's soccer team, is the keynote speaker for the breakfast, a fundraiser that supports scholarships and bursaries for UNBC student-athletes.

Last year, when Olympic hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser gave the keynote address at the first edition of the Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast, more than $40,000 was raised.

Breakfast with Herdman will go from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Northern Sport Centre. Tickets are $75 for an individual seat, or $600 for a table of eight. Tickets can be reserved online at www.unbc.ca/timberwolves.

"The opportunity to welcome John to our community to celebrate varsity athletics is amazing," said Loralyn Murdoch, director of athletics and recreation at UNBC. "He's made an impact on all levels of Canadian athletics, from youth at the grass roots to our Olympians. UNBC Athletics looks forward to celebrating this excellence with the community."

Herdman has been head coach of the Canadian women since 2011. He was hired after the team was eliminated from the 2011 Women's World Cup and was at the helm of the program when Canada kicked to gold at the 2011 Pan Am Games and to bronze at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

At the 2015 World Cup, played in Canada, Herdman got the club as far as the quarterfinal playoff round.

Previously, Herdman coached the New Zealand women's national team (2006-2011). He is originally from Consett, England.
