John Ribeiro is returning home to Prince George.
Ribeiro has been hired as the technical director for the Prince George Youth Soccer Association, a place where his coaching career began in 2007.
"Prince George boasts the best soccer facilities in the province with a dedicated soccer community and soccer pathways set up for every player regardless of their age or level," said Ribeiro in a press release. "I am truly proud to lead this club."
Ribeiro begins his new role on Sept. 21.
For the past two seasons, he was the Divisional Teams Technical Director for the largest club in Western Canada, Vancouver United FC.
Ribeiro has coached in the B.C. Soccer Premier League for Fusion FC and Surrey United and he created and directed an elementary school soccer program at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver.
As a B license national coach and with his Scottish Football Association Children's Award (a 30-hour course designed for coaches working with young players), he plans to pull from his network of talented coaches to provide players in northern B.C. the best soccer experience and opportunities available.
"My focus is on coach and player development and you will see me on the fields mentoring and participating as a hands-on coach at all levels," said Ribeiro, adding the door is always open for a visit at the PGYSA indoor facility.
