Emily Dickson of Burns Lake is about to race in a World Cup biathlon event for the first time in her career.

The 22-year-old will start 77th in the order in the BMW IBU World Cup women's 7.5-kilometre sprint race Thursday in Oberhof, Germany.

Dickson is one of three Canadians entered, along with Emma Lunder of Vernon, who will start ninth, and Medgan Bankes of Calgary, who will be 44th out of the gate.

The race will be webcast live on eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/ starting at 5 a.m. PT.

Coming off injuries and an illnesses associated with her battle with celiac disease, Dickson hasn't raced internationally since March 2 last season when she finished 48th in an IBU Cup sprint in Otepaeae, Estonia.
