A couple who visited a series of high-priced homes for sale have been arrested after a large amount of jewelry and money was stolen from several homes.

Salmon Arm RCMP received seven complaints between Sept. 10 and Oct. 11 from homeowners selling houses valued between $635,000 and $1.2 million, according to a press release. They all reported a theft of valuables from their homes.

Much of the jewelry has significant sentimental value with estimated losses exceeding the tens of thousands in value, states Staff Sgt. Scott West in the release.

Mounties were able to link the couple to thefts that had occurred in more than a half-dozen homes.

The male and female suspects of no fixed address have since been located, arrested and released to attend Salmon Arm Provincial Court in the new year, says West.

Numerous charges are being considered by police, including theft under $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
