DriveBC has shared dramatic aerial video of avalanche control work along the Trans-Canada Highway near Revelstoke on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Transportation's Rocky Mountain District posted the video to Twitter, which shows a slide being triggered and then thundering down a steep mountainside east of Revelstoke.
The wave of snow careens down the slope and over a snow shed. The video then cuts to a plow truck passing underneath.
"Avalanche control and debris clean up on (Highway 1) east of Revelstoke today was successful in reducing the risk of natural avalanches reaching the highway and impacting the travelling public. Four avalanche paths were targeted in this mission," the ministry wrote.
Meanwhile, AIM Roads tweets this morning that an avalanche that closed Coalmont Road overnight west of Princeton has now been cleared.
The slide happened at the 20-kilometre mark near Otter Valley, on a gravel portion of the route.
