A Canadian kickboxing legend and six-time world champion in the kickboxing scene is on his way to Dawson Creek to train.
Gabriel Varga is headed to Mile Zero March 12 for some instructional time with kickboxing students at Legend Martial Arts in DC.
“This is a great get for Dawson Creek to have a fighter of this calibre,” says Evan Ollenberger with Legend.
“He’s doing a real service – and he like coaching and helping kids with kickboxing.”
Varga is a six-time World Pro Champion - a two-time GLORY Featherweight Champion, Bellator Featherweight Champion, GLORY Contender Tournament Champion, Hero Legends Champion, WKN World Lightweight Oriental Champion, WKF World Light Welterweight K-1 Champion, and two-time ISKA Amateur World Champion.
Ollenberger says kickboxing could be at the Olympics in the near future.
Indeed at the 138th International Olympic Committee session, kickboxing as well as Muay Thai were recognized.
Ollenberger says while this isn’t a guarantee of inclusion – it is a step in the right direction towards Olympic competition.
There are still spots left for youth interested in taking a session with Varga.
