Northern B.C. non-profits receive $47,000

Since the fund was created in 2016, 94 non-profit projects in the North and South Peace have received a total of $827,231.

More than $47,000 has been put towards supporting five Peace Region non-profit groups through Site C project's Generate Opportunities (GO) Fund.

Since the fund was created in 2016, 94 non-profit projects in the North and South Peace have received a total of $827,231.  

The latest recipients include:

  • River of the Peace Metis Society: $10,000 to provide food vouchers to vulnerable families and citizens in Hudson’s Hope.
  • Chetwynd Public Library Association: $10,000 to purchase gardening supplies for the Kid Sprouts – Seed Library Program, which teaches children how to grow their own vegetables.
  • Totem Nursery Preschool Society: $9,740 to renovate the preschool basement play area, including rubberized flooring for safety.
  • Hudson’s Hope Lions Club: $10,000 to help purchase a mobile kitchen trailer to allow the club to continue operations during the planned replacement of the Hudson’s Hope Community Hall. 
  • Hope for Health Society: $7,426 to host a three-day wellness conference for 300 people.

The fund is administered by the Northern Development Initiative Trust, and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with funding distributed quarterly.
