WEST KELOWNA, B.C. — The RCMP says officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting and death that happened early Sunday morning near Highway 97 in Kelowna, B.C.
Mounties say in a news release the investigation forced the closure of the highway between Butt and Grizzly Roads for several hours on Sunday.
The release says the investigation has the characteristics of a targeted shooting.
It adds the BC Coroners Service has been notified and will conduct a concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine a cause of death.
Investigators are seeking anyone with information about the incident who was in the area between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
In particular, RCMP are asking any drivers with dash cameras who travelled the highway at this time to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
