On Dec. 5, Sniders Electronics gave $500 to the Fort St. John Seniors Hall kitchen renovation, with Wendell Snider presenting the check to seniors hall rep Wendy Clayson.
The Fort St John Fire Department visited the seniors hall on Nov. 28, with Fire Chief Robert Norton, Deputy Fire Chief Matt Trojiano, Fire Prevention Officer Marco D'Agostino and Fire Inspector Alyn Stobbe donating smoke alarms to seniors and providing some holiday safety tips.
The Fort St. John Huskies hockey team hosted their annual ‘Fill the Bus’ event on Dec. 3, collecting 9,500 pounds of food to help those in need.
The Aligour Family and the BC Warriors Hockey Team visited the Fort St. John Salvation Army on Dec. 19, preparing a meal for the community.
Staff, students and families of C.M. Finch Elementary School hosted a food drive for the Salvation Army on Dec. 17, while Giant Power Tongs donated 157 turkeys to the non-profit on Dec. 19, providing Christmas dinners for those in need.
The North East Native Advancing Society’s Elder Group donated 10 care packages for men and women to the Salvation Army on Dec. 16 and items for the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society, while Century 21 collected hundreds of gifts for Christmas hampers going to families in need, says the Fort St. John Salvation Army.
Walmart also joined hands with the Fort St. John Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, doubling the public’s donations.
ARC Resources Ltd. presented a $25,000 dollar cheque to the Salvation Army on Dec. 16, while Taylor youth Sarah Byford collected $520 for toys to go in Christmas hampers, and Strait Group and Moose FM hosted a toy drive in partnership with Home Hardware Fort St. John.
Doig River First Nation Uujo Development and Fraction Energy Services each contributed $2,500 to both the Salvation Army and the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.
Over 500 pairs of gloves were donated by the public to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society, helping keep hands warm this winter.

The Catholic Women's League from the FSJ Church of the Resurrection, Lucas's Pitstop, Grade 12 student Nora Redford, Canlin Energy, Mr. Mikes, ACL Construction , Brand Tractor, ConocoPhillips, Sigrid Thompson and Sarah Kube, the Oil Wives Club of FSJ, Ecole Central Elementary School, Inland Truck and Equipment, North Peace Savings, the FSJ Dance Society, and the Royal Canadian Legion all made donations of cash and items to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.
