If you've wondered what it would be like to drive the "affordable Tesla," a Vernon-based car rental company has you covered.
Power Trips has been renting Tesla Model S vehicles already, owner Ryan Silverthorn said, and is now adding the Model 3.
"Due to overwhelming requests for the Model 3, Power Trips took delivery of their first Tesla Model 3 and hopes to add more in the very near future," Silverthorn said.
The rental process is online and the car is delivered to a meeting location of your choice, where a staff member works with you on a full orientation of the car, Silverthorn said.
Model 3 comes with the option of dual motor all-wheel drive, 20-inch performance wheels and brakes and lowered suspension for total control, in all weather conditions. A carbon fibre spoiler improves stability at high speeds, allowing Model 3 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
The range is 499 kms on a single charge. The starting retail price is $38,290, with the performance package taking you up to $75,290.
Power Trip's Model 3 rental rates start at $199 per day and go to $1,295 for seven days.
"The Tesla Model 3 is the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, and the closest place to the Okanagan Valley to test-drive one is in Vancouver or Calgary,” said Silverthorn.
"We were overwhelmed with requests from tourists, locals and electric-vehicle enthusiasts looking to rent a Model 3 and try it out for a few days. Lots of people have never driven an electric vehicle and want to see if it will fit their lifestyle before purchasing."
