Vancouver's Olympic cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza will be re-lit on Friday, July 26, to celebrate the start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Soon the torches at Jack Poole Plaza will be aflame again.

The Olympic cauldron will be fired up on Friday, July 26 to celebrate the beginning of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris; the French capital will host the opening ceremonies on the same day.

"PavCo and the Vancouver Convention Centre will light the cauldron in Jack Poole Plaza on July 26 at 3 p.m. to celebrate the official start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games," a convention centre spokesperson tells V.I.A.

The Consulat Général de France à Vancouver is involved too.

The cauldron has regularly been lit during Olympic Games since Vancouver 2010.

The Paris Olympics will feature 32 sports. While the opening ceremonies take place on July 26, some competition events will begin beforehand, like archery and rugby. Nearly 1,000 medals will be handed out over more than two weeks of competitions. Canada is sending more than 300 athletes.
