A mother duck and her four ducklings got tarmac priority at Vancouver International Airport on Thursday (June 20).

An Air Canada Dreamliner waited patiently as the fowl waddled across its path at the terminal.

The 35-tonne airliner was only held up for a moment or two, CTV News reports.

An airport spokesperson says it's rare to see ducks on the tarmac.

YVR's Wildlife Hazard Management Program employs two dogs and their handlers to scare off birds, but they only work from October to May, when water fowl are most active in the area.
