A woman who collided with an ambulance while driving a stolen pickup truck has been prohibited from driving for two years.
Jocelyn Rae Wood of Chetwynd, 35, was also sentenced to a conditional sentence order - effectively house arrest - of two years less a day for the Oct. 28, 2020 incident on Highway 97 just north of the Simon Fraser Bridge.
Police said at the time that the stolen pickup was driven out of the ditch and hit a median along the highway before ramming into the southbound ambulance, which was carrying two patients. The ambulance then struck another pickup truck towing a trailer.
Three people fled the scene on foot and were soon apprehended with the help of an RCMP handler and dog.
Several people suffered injuries in the collision, which occurred shortly after 11 a.m., although none were life-threatening.
Wood was sentenced Sept. 16 in Prince George provincial court after she pleaded guilty to counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, refusal to provide a breath sample stemming from a collision involving bodily harm and possessing stolen property over $5,000.
Charges of possessing stolen property against two other people - Brittany Ann Bisenberger and Dallas Raymond Patrick Garbitt - were stayed.
