Hudson's Bay department store in Prince George closed

Sign on entrances to Parkwood Mall store says closure is due to system issues

The Hudson’s Bay department store in downtown Prince George remains closed again today.

Signs at the entrances to the store in Parkwood Place at 1600 15th Avenue say the closure is due to “system issues” and that the store will be “opening tomorrow.”

The signs were posted on the glass doors Saturday afternoon.

"The store is closed while we perform maintenance on our HVAC system," said Tiffany Bouree, Hudson's Bay vice-president of corporate communications, public relations, events social and heritage.

"The comfort and well-being of our customers and associates is always our top priority."

No contractor vehicles were in the parking lot of the store on Tuesday, nor has there been any sign of workers making repairs for the past three days.

The Bay’s downtown Vancouver store at Georgia and Granville streets is also closed to the public due to unspecified maintenance issues.

The Victoria store at 1150 Douglas St., was closed as of Monday to maintenance issues related to the HVAC system. It was the same situation in Ontario, as the Bay store at the Devonshire Mall in Windsor was closed because of the heat and a non-working cooling system.

In May, the Bay store in Mississauga, Ont. also closed temporarily for "systems issues."
