The Spruce Kings announced Thursday they have recruited 2006-born forward Brady Anes for the 2024-25 BCHL season.

Michigan is known for its motor vehicle manufacturing industry, but the state is also a hotbed for producing junior-calibre hockey players.

The Prince George Cougars have tapped into the talent pool. On Thursday the B.C. Hockey League club announced it has signed 2006-born forward Brady Anes, a native of Ludington, Mich.

“Coach Alex (Evin) and the other staff have been very welcoming to me,” said Anes in a team release.

“Prince George seems like a great spot to further my development and be part of a great organization. I am super excited to get started. The BCHL is a great, high skilled league and I am looking forward to being a part of it.”

Anes, who turns 18 on Oct. 18. stands six-foot-three out of his skates and weighs 194 pounds.

An injury limited Anes to 13 games this past season for the Fox Motors 18U triple-A team based in Byron Center, Mich., and had three goals and five assists in those games.

He cranked up the offence in the postseason, recording two goals and three assists in four playoff games.

“Brady is a great addition to our group,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “He’s a combination of size, skill, and speed along with many other intangibles including being a tremendous young man. We’re thrilled to work with Brady on his development and his journey.”
