Prince George Citizen photographer Chuck Nisbett stopped in at the 26th Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Contest at Pine Centre Mall Saturday.
The Central Interior branch of Engineers and Geoscientists BC hosted the event that was open to children and adults with prizes won in each age category.
Using a maximum of 100 Popsicle sticks and white school glue, adults and/or children designed and built their own innovative bridges at home.
The bridges were then brought to Pine Centre Mall on Saturday, April 13 where they were loaded onto the specially designed machine that applied an increasing load until the bridge broke.
The machine was equipped with a sensor called a load cell that measures the force that was applied to the bridge.
Top three bridges that could withstand the most force in each category won a gift card prize.
This event was geared to promote STEM, science technology, engineering, and math, in the community encouraging everyone to participate now and at future events.
