Prince George connections help power U16 Girls to volleyball gold

A strong contingent from Prince George has helped the Team BC U16 Girls reach their golden dreams.

Team BC U16 Girls Volleyball Team won the U16 Canada Cup National Championship in Calgary over the weekend.  

The team had a strong Prince George connection with former resident and Kelly Road Secondary Alumni Chris Dahl as program lead, Mark LaFleur as assistant coach (Duchess Park Secondary), and Delaney Turner (DP Todd), and Tyler Dahl (Prince George Secondary School) as two athletes on the team.

All matches were best-of-five sets.

Team B.C. came first in their pool after defeating Team Alberta White (3-0), Quebec (3-0), and P.E..I (3-0).

In the playoffs they defeated Newfoundland (3-1) in the quarters, Team Alberta Blue (3-1)in the semis, and Team Alberta Black in the finals (3-2). 

In the finals, Team B.C. won the first set, dropped the next two sets and were behind in the fourth set but managed to come back and win the fourth set. They then won the fifth set 15-8.

Tyler Dahl received the Maple Award as Team B.C. MVP.
