Call for submissions of Indigenous artwork

There is a call for submissions for the annual Ancestral: Manifestations of Past, Present and Future Indigenous art exhibition.

Ancestral: Manifestations of Past, Present, and Future, the annual art exhibition presented by Omineca Arts Centre and Northern Indigenous Arts Council, will showcase Indigenous work during the month of June to celebrate National Indigenous People’s Day.

Indigenous artists are invited to submit their work for consideration by April 30.

The exhibition will showcase the rich diversity and talent of Indigenous artists, highlighting the dynamic interplay between traditional heritage and contemporary expression. Indigenous art is a living, evolving tradition, reflecting the ongoing dialogue between past, present, and future, said the news release from Omineca Arts Centre.

Submissions can include sculptures, paintings, photographs, songs, stories, poems, performances, short films, crafts, and more. Each artist may submit up to three works for consideration, live performers may perform during the reception starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6.

Selected artwork must be delivered ready for installation by June 1 and must be framed or prepared with appropriate fixtures for hanging or installation.

To apply complete and sign the application form and include an image, copy, or detailed description of your submission(s). Submissions can be sent by post to 369 Victoria Street or electronically to [email protected], with the subject line Ancestral: Manifestations of Past, Present, and Future. For postal submissions include a self-addressed return envelope with sufficient postage for return shipping.
