There’s an Ice Disco at the Oval Saturday, Feb. 12.
It’s a family friendly event that will start at 2 p.m. and end at 10 with fireworks and there's a Zamboni break from 5 to 6 p.m.
This is a fundraising event for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society so admission is by donation.
This event is a safe, Covid-friendly way for families to once again enjoy the great outdoors in Prince George.
“We are really excited to kick off 2022 with the first large community gathering in many, many months,” local organizer, Kyle Sampson, said. “This event is really an attempt to once again bring back some normalcy into our lives. Prince George is a winter city and we usually have so many great winter celebrations and gatherings but Covid has made it difficult for the usual events to go forward. We’ve been able to put together our event in relatively short order after seeing that the current restrictions in place will allow for a safe outdoor gatherings, and that the mild temperatures ahead will allow for comfortable outdoor gatherings.”
The plan sees a sound system and lightshow in place to bring a roller-disco feel to the event.
There will be food trucks, face painting, skate sharpening, snacks, games and prizes. To wrap it all up the event there will be fireworks on display.
“It’s been remarkable to see so many incredible local businesses jump on board to support this community event and to support the Prince George Hospice Society," Sampson said.
The goal is to raise $20,000 for Hospice that provides the community a place where people can go in their final days and know they will be treated with dignity and respect.
