Vanier Hall will be uptown and gettin' funky on Sunday night.
The dancers from Judy Russell's dance studio will put their all-star skills on the stage for a fundraising event to move them on to the next level of festivals this spring.
The studio had a successful run during the local dance festival a couple of weeks ago and now their Performers North Entertainment Company youth are aiming at the annual dance festival held in Prince Rupert - one of Western Canada's best dance showcases - and the provincial performing arts competition being held this year in Powell River.
"Unfortunately there was no gala performance for this year's Prince George & District Dance Festival due to time constraints," said Russell. "Therefore it makes this year's fundraiser show even more important for people to come out and see - so many amazing pieces of choreography danced by truly dedicated, talented and spectacular dancers."
The show is called Uptown Funk named for the popular Bruno Mars / Mark Ronson jam that the local dancers have created choreography for. It's the titular feature number, but there are many performances on the program, the majority of them award-winners, to make the evening flash and sizzle with all-local talent.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, showtime is 7 p.m. Admission is 15$ and all proceeds go to helping 60 kids from the Judy Russell family of performers.
