PGSO begins season ticket push

It might be the off-season, but the Prince George Symphony Orchestra is still busy.

It might be the off-season, but the Prince George Symphony Orchestra is still busy.

PGSO members are part of summertime music activities like Orchestra North Summer Camp in Smithers; Judy Russell's production of The Sound Of Music; part of bands performing at ArtsWells and Music On The Mountain; and active on the performance stages around Prince George during the warm weather months.

The PGSO's season ticket campaign is now underway, offering previous subscribers the chance to keep the seats they like if they renew in person at the PGSO office before September.

The PGSO is also offering a flex pass for those who want to buy live music in bulk quantities but can't commit to a whole season.

"The flex pass contains four vouchers valid for one seat that you can redeem for any mainstage concert during the 2015-16 concert season," said PGSO general manager Jeremy Stewart.

Or, he added, it isn't called the flex pass for nothing.

"Bring your friends and use all four vouchers for one great concert experience; bring one friend to two concerts; or enjoy all four concerts yourself - any combination, your choice."

Alternately, get the whole orchestra enchilada at discount prices with a Premium Series season's pass.

There is also a special performance to which only subscribers may go, making the season's pass more valuable than it's ever been.

This is also the first year for the PGSO with Jose Degado-Guevara as artistic director. He has been with the orchestra as concertmaster, and now steps from the violin section onto the conductor's podium.

"As we embark upon our 45th season, we are thrilled to introduce a new direction for the orchestra that will see us continue to bring live, professional symphonic music to the north as we've always done, but with a greater focus on the local than ever before," said Stewart.

"We are so inspired by this community, and so dedicated to providing you with all the best our musical passion can produce. We want to especially encourage you to consider a full season subscription this year - it's the easiest way to support the PGSO, while also allowing you to enjoy every moment of this unforgettable season of concerts. Subscribe today and let's keep the music playing."
