An intimate evening with Sarah McLachlan takes place tonight at CN Centre beginning at 7:30 and offers fans an intimate evening with the popular Canadian singer as she performs classic hits, music from her new release, Laws of Illusion and answers questions from the audience.
McLachlan's band members, Butterfly Boucher and Melissa McClelland, will perform their own short sets during the show, too.
Laws of Illusion is the first new album for McLachlan in seven years and has been certified gold. The same goes for each one of her studio and live albums and videos that have been certified gold, platinum, multi-platinum or diamond by the Canadian Recording Industry Association, starting with Touch (1988) and Solace (1991), both platinum sellers.
Her 1993 breakthrough, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, three times platinum, was followed by the digitally enhanced multimedia version of The Freedom Sessions (1996, gold). Sarah's landmark fourth album, the Diamond certified Surfacing (1997), contained two Grammy Award-winning tracks, as Building a Mystery won for Best Female Pop Vocal, and Last Dance was voted Best Pop Instrumental. The 1999 quadruple-platinum Mirrorball and its platinum long-form video counterpart were both culled from that year's Lilith Fair tour and spun off McLachlan's third Grammy-winning performance, as I Will Remember You won for Best Female Pop Vocal. The five-times platinum Afterglow followed in 2003 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album, while its opening track, Fallen was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal. Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan (2008) contained two newly recorded/previously unreleased songs, U Want Me 2 and Don't Give Up On Us.
