There's a new play hitting the floor boards Thursday at the College of New Caledonia theatre space in Room 1-306.

Rollback brings to life the old adage about hindsight being 20/20 and if only you'd known then what you know now.

Rollback is a stage adaptation of science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer's book of the same name. Sawyer is a best-selling Canadian author, and his novel FlashForward was adapted into an ABC television series.

The play has been adapted by local writer Virginia O'Dine who approached Sawyer with the chance to see his characters come to life.

In it, the comfortably retired main characters Don, played by Al Dawson and Sarah, played by Lynne Brown, are presented with the opportunity to be young again -- aged 25 to be precise. It's an exciting theory until only one of them actually gets the gift of a youthful body.

"We've all dreamed of what it would be like to be young again, only knowing what we know now," said O'Dine. "This story is so true to life, with its laughs and tears, turmoil and even ugly situations. The characters are completely human with all their faults and insecurities. The cast is amazing. I am so proud of their performance."

The play's production troupe heads for the Theatre BC Central Interior Zone Festival at the end of May in Williams Lake. The winner of this festival is invited to perform at the provincial Mainstage Festival in Kamloops in July.

Shows are Thursday to Saturday and May 5 to 7 at 8 p.m. at the College of New Caledonia, Theatre 1-306. Tickets are $15 at Books & Company, 1685 Third Avenue or at the door.
