Studio Fair brings out the kid in visitors looking for that special something

Since they moved here three years ago Heike Wrobbel and Robert Frederickson attend Studio Fair every year. And every year they find something unique to purchase.

Since they moved to Prince George, Heike Wrobbel and Robert Frederickson have attended Studio Fair every year.

And every year they find something unique to purchase.

The 47th annual Studio Fair is all set up at CN Centre and welcomes guests to browse the wares of more than 300 vendors.

For Heike and Robert the first year they purchased a metal Christmas tree, the following year it was wool socks for a dear granddaughter and it’s too early into their Studio Fair foray to say what this year’s purchase will be but it took a bit of coaxing to get Robert away from one of the distilleries on the CN Centre floor.

“The diversity here and the innovation shown by the artisans is really quite remarkable,” Robert said.

“We just love it here and there’s so many things to see,” Heike added. “I love doing crafts so to me this is really the cat’s meow.”

Robert gives a little smile.

“You see we’re downsizing – we’re 80 – so we’re getting rid of stuff – but every year we don’t seem to have less – as we keep bringing more stuff home,” Robert shrugged. “Ok, you know I’m in my second or third childhood, right?”

“I can hardly wait for next year,” Heike laughed.

Studio Fair goes Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 cash per person, children under 12 are free.

Donations are also accepted of non-perishable food items for St. Vincent de Paul Society’s food bank.
