Israeli couple visiting Prince George to talk about Oct. 7, hope and resilience

A Journey of Healing: From Holocaust Remembrance to Environmental Renewal happens Sunday at the Prince George Playhouse

An Israeli couple who travel the world to share awareness of issues affecting Israel will visit Prince George on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Noam and Adi Bedein are on a speaking tour of the Pacific Northwest. The public event, presented by the Jewish Community of Prince George and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, takes place at the Prince George Playhouse at 2 p.m.

The event is called A Journey of Healing: From Holocaust Remembrance to Environmental Renewal. It will include two presentations with an intermission, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The Bedeins will discuss:

  • Courage and Memory: Bridging Holocaust Education with the Commemoration of Oct. 7. This presentation will include a 360-degree tour of The Car Wall, which is a pile of burnt cars west of the Tkuma in the Gaza envelope, resembling the shape of a wall. Originally, this pile was created by evacuating the burnt cars from the Gaza envelope after the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, and the massacre at the Nova Festival in particular, from where most of the cars came. Later, the wall of burnt cars became a memorial to the massacre, which was the largest terrorist attack in the history of the State of Israel. This presentation will be led by Adi, a certified tour guide at Yad Vashem, The World Holocaust Remembrance Center, in Jerusalem.
  • Environmental Resilience: The Innovative Path to Healing Israel's Society and Nature's Treasures. Discover how Israel's water resources can inspire innovative, sustainable tourism that fosters social resilience and post-traumatic healing while protecting and revitalizing Israel's natural environment. This presentation will be led by Noam, who has dedicated his career to documenting the restoration of historic water sources, promoting ecotourism, and strengthening the Abraham Accords for water and marine conservation.

“The Jewish community of Prince George is so thrilled to welcome Noam and Adi to Prince George for this illustrious event," said Eli Klasner, local community member, in a press release. “Noam and Adi are exploring the Pacific Northwest, sharing their message of hope and resilience from their unique Israeli perspective and we are certain that their presentations will hold tremendous meaning and interest for people from all walks of life. Additionally, we are so very honoured to have the support of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver and appreciate their interest in helping to support this event.”
