The B.C. Ministry of Health reported 62 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region on Wednesday.
The number of active cases in the region rose to 360, up by 23 from Tuesday. On the same day, the B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported one additional new and one additional active case.
There were 38 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the Northern Health region as of Wednesday, the B.C. CDC reported, including eight people listed in critical care.
No new COVID-related deaths were reported in the north on Wednesday, leaving the region’s death toll from the pandemic at 255.
As of Wednesday, 17,643 cases of COVID-10 have been reported in the Northern Health region, of which 17,010 people have recovered.
As of Wednesday, 84.8 per cent of eligible British Columbians (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.7 per cent are fully vaccinated. For people aged 12 and older, 91.2 per cent have at least one dose, 87.9 per cent are fully vaccinated and nine per cent have received a third booster dose.
A total of 405,735 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the Northern Health region, the B.C. CDC reported.
Northern Health reported COVID-19 exposures at St. Mary’s School on Nov. 19 and and Nov. 22 to Nov. 25 and at Beaverley Elementary School Nov. 16-19 and Nov. 22-25.
On Wednesday, Carrier Sekani Family Services announced a drop-in COVID-19 and flu vaccination clinic will be held at the agency’s main office at 987 Fourth Ave. on Friday.
The drop-in clinic is open to every aged 12 and older needing first, second or third shots of the COVID-19 or their seasonal flu shot. The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and no appointments are necessary.
