The first ballots in Prince George’s municipal election will be filled out tomorrow (Oct. 10), when the advance-voting period officially kicks off.

Advance voting begins on Oct. 10 and runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre in upper-level rooms 204, 205 and 206.

On Thursday, Oct. 11, advance voting will be held all day at Pine Centre Mall, so you’ll have the opportunity to cast your ballot while getting some shopping done.

Then on Tuesday, Oct. 16, advance voting returns to the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre in upper-level rooms 201, 202 and 203.

The final chance for advance voting before general voting day (Oct. 20) is at UNBC in the Bentley Centre on Oct. 17.

To be eligible to vote in the municipal election, voters must be 18 years of age or older, a Canadian citizen, a resident of British Columbia for at least six months, and have lived in the City of Prince George for at least 30 days prior to registering to vote.

The city uses same-day voter registration so voters don’t need to register in advance, but voters will need to present two pieces of acceptable identification at the voting station that will provide proof of identity and place of residence.

For the Regional District of Fraser Fort George (RDFFG) elections advance voting opportunities will occur Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 17 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the RDFFG offices on 155 George Street in Prince George.

For Area H only additional advance voting will be held Oct. 10 at the Robson Valley Community Centre at 441 Columbia Street in McBride and the Valemount Community Hall at 101 Gorse Street in Valemount.

Voting for School District 57 Trustees will be the same time and locations as advance voting in Prince George, with additional advance voting opportunities in the Robson Valley.

On Oct. 10 advance voting will be held from 8 am to 8 pm at the following locations:

  • Robson Valley Community Centre (McBride)
  • Valemount Community Hall
  • Village of McBride office
  • Village of Valemount office
