The city is under an air quality advisory due to high concentrations of dust.
Issued Tuesday morning, the advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
"High concentrations of coarse particulate matter are expected to persist until there is precipitation or dust suppression," officials said in a statement. "Dust concentrations tend to be highest around busy roads and industrial operations."
People with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
"If you are experiencing symptoms such as continuing eye or throat irritation, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, cough or wheezing, follow the advice of your health care provider," officials said. "Staying indoors helps to reduce exposure to fine particulate matter."
