Air quality advisory issued

B.C. Environment issued an air quality advisory Thursday because of high levels of fine particulate air pollution in the Prince George airshed, a result of forest fires, and industry and transportation emissions.

B.C. Environment issued an air quality advisory Thursday because of high levels of fine particulate air pollution in the Prince George airshed, a result of forest fires, and industry and transportation emissions.

The provincial air quality objective for the smallest fine particles, 2.5 microns or smaller, were exceeded. The 24-hour rolling average for PM2.5 was 35 micrograms per cubic metre downtown and 31 in College Heights, higher than the 25 microgram per cubic metre provincial advisory standard.
