Press ‘play’ on Joni Mitchell’s most well-known single from the 1970s because by the time they got to Woodstock, Ont., the Spruce Kings found its newest player.
Josh Wright has been dealt to Prince George’s BCHL team in a deal with the 19-year-old’s current club, the Brampton 99ers.
He was traded to the Ontario league (OJHL) franchise in June last summer after completing his first junior ‘A’ season with the Trenton Golden Hawks.
There, Wright posted 14 points in 43 regular-season games as a defenceman, including three goals and 11 assists.
He added four points, all assists, in four playoff games before the OJHL cancelled the rest due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Josh is a veteran d-man with good size and skills,” said Prince George General Manager Mike Hawes in a team release today (Jan. 4).
“He will be a great addition to our team when we are able to play this season and certainly for next season.”
The Spruce Kings are sending future considerations to Brampton to complete the trade.
ViaSportBC has amended the public health order on adult sports in conjunction with the provincial government to allow those under 22 years old to return to practice and train with their respective teams.
This came after specific criticism from junior hockey teams as half of a given roster consists of 19-, 20- and 21-year-old athletes.
Those current restrictions are in effect until Friday (Jan. 8) and the BCHL is hopeful to have a better idea on if and when a 2020-21 season will take place.
