A garden shed on the Hart became a victim of early spring backyard activities.

At about 10 p.m. on Saturday, fire crews responded to an alarm in the 2900 block of Ridgeview Drive. Sixteen firefighters from three halls arrived to discover the outbuilding inferno.

"The first in-crew found a fully involved garden shed located in the back yard of the residence and was quickly extinguished," said Prince George Fire Rescue assistant chief Denis Poulin.

"Fire cause was determined to be two portable heaters that were on inside the garden shed."

The homeowners were at home at the time of the blaze, but no one was injured and no serious adjacent property damage was done.

The estimated cost of the damage was about $5,000.
