This would have been Barkerville’s opening weekend, but obviously, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, things are a little different this year.
Luckily, you can still enjoy the magic from the national historic site, as it’s launching Barkerville Live!, consisting of interactive, virtual programming for the public offered daily.
You can tune in from the comfort of your own home and take-in high-quality tours, performances, and presentations live from Barkerville Historic Town and Park.
Be entertained and educated when you connect with Barkerville’s Historic interpreters through Zoom.
Tickets are $8 and you can peruse the schedule online to find a time that works for you.
Barkerville has been welcoming visitors from across the world for over 60 years, but with the onset of the COVID-19 state of emergency, many of those visits have been cancelled.
The park’s planned opening date, originally scheduled for today (May 14), has been moved to June 18 with a reassessment of this new date and any further decision on opening to be made no later than June 4, 2020.
Until then, Barkerville is remaining closed for visitation but now both school groups and the general public can connect with the historic site virtually.
You can also check out a pre-recorded interactive multimedia project about Barkerville, produced in 2019, to explore the historic site at your own pace.
