A Parkwood Shopping Centre business was rocked Monday afternoon by an explosion that sent a man working on renovations to hospital.

The blast at the Second Cup, which left the windows intact, appeared to have occurred when a worker cut into a five-inch sewer line that still had gas in it, Prince George Fire Rescue assistant chief John Heaslip said.

Two neighbouring businesses were evacuated. There were no customers in Second Cup at the time.
