Camp fires will be banned in a large part of the Prince George Fire Centre by noon Thursday as the province reacts to continuing hot, dry conditions. The ban comes into effect just before the Aug. 1 long weekend.

The ban comes into effect just before the Aug. 1 long weekend. The ban is necessary, says the province, due to dry forests and a forecast for a prolonged period without substantial rain.
