A Prince George man convicted of stealing a car will have to spend time behind bars after all.

Christopher Ross Blaney was sentenced in supreme court Tuesday to six months in jail for a May 17 incident in which a Pontiac Sunfire was stolen from the Spruce Street area and tracked down to First Avenue and River Road where Blaney and two others were arrested.

In August, Blaney had been sentenced to a conditional sentence, effectively house arrest, of two years less a day, for the offence but that order was suspended Tuesday in favour of jail time.

One other person, Simone Marie Thomas, was sentenced to 30 days in jail in late July for flight from a peace officer in connection with the incident.

The third person arrested was released without charges.
