Central Mountain Air (CMA) is bringing back two non-stop flights in northern B.C. and the Okanagan.
The company announced that beginning April 5, it will operate weekly round-trip, non-stop flights with Beechcraft 1900D between Kamloops and Fort St. John to Prince George respectfully.
This comes on the schedule CMA first introduced in late January when they announced the suspension of its services out of YXS as of Feb. 3, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The resumption of the three-times-weekly service out of Kamloops to Prince George will offer passengers one-stop connections to and from Terrace, Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson.
Fort St. John to Prince George, two times weekly, will offer passengers one-stop connections from Fort St. John to Edmonton, Kamloops, and Kelowna.
CMA says its also adding a weekly flight from Prince George to Edmonton, hoping it can aid in growing the market with traffic and connectivity to Terrace, Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson as well.
“Central Mountain Air continues to adapt to the realities of COVID-19,” said CMA spokesperson Michael Claeren in a statement today (March 29).
“We’re working hard to support BC interior and northern communities with sustainable air travel options while adhering to governmental guidelines and COVID-19 protocols to keep everyone safe.”
In the same release, CMA CEO Bob Cummings acknowledges the support of the affected communities and airports during this uncertain and stressful period.
“All stakeholder groups are supporting the restoration of key connectivity that enables essential travel options for mining, construction and related activity as well as critical medical purpose and other travel.”
Cummings said by the end of June, CMA will have 28 aircraft (Beechcraft 1900Ds; Dornier 328-100s; De Havilland Dash 8 – 100s and 300s) to support much needed economic recovery.
