Charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon have been laid against two female youth in connection with the assault of a female in Freeman Park on April 16.

The youth, ages 14 and 17, who were drinking in the park on the night of the assault, are scheduled to appear in court within the next couple of weeks.

At the onset of the investigation, it was believed the victim had been sexually assaulted and beaten so badly that she didn't remember significant details of that night.

Investigators had a composite drawing done of a male suspect in his 40's, to the best of the victim's recollection. Several possible suspects were interviewed.

The Prince George Serious Crimes Unit doesn't believe the victim was sexually assaulted that night and would like to advise the public to disregard the composite sketch initially released.
