Council approved the following increases to the water and sewer user fees:

Water Utility - a 15 per cent increase to the residential and commercial flat rates, a 15per cent increase to the residential and commercial capacity rates and a 15 per cent increase to the residential and commercial metered rates effective January 1, 2011.

Sewer Utility - a 15 per cent increase to residential and commercial rates effective January 1, 2011.

This initiative supports Council's Core Focus Area of "Continuing Progressive and Responsible Fiscal Management" which includes applying a life cycle value approach to investment in infrastructure and fully funding utility services through user fees

Aquatic Fees:

Council approved swim admission and swimming lesson rate increases, effective April 1, 2011. Additionally, Council approved the changes to the Comprehensive Fees and Charges Bylaw Schedule B-4 effective April 1, 2011.

Pine Valley Fees and Charges:

Council approved a change to the Pine Valley Fees and Charges. This will result in recommended increases on the average of $0.40 per fee package effective January 1, 2011.

Controlled Substance Property Bylaw No. 8298, 2010:

Council approved the first three (3) readings of City of Prince George Controlled Substance Property Bylaw No. 8298, 2010. Implementation and enactment of the Controlled Substance Property Bylaw will provide staff with an improved tool to respond to the life safety issues associated with grow operations and clandestine drug labs in the community.

The proposed bylaw provides staff the ability to recover costs associated with inspections, clean-up and associated costs that are incurred while responding to grow operation and clandestine drug lab properties, which will ensure the program is revenue neutral.
