Prince George administration will recommend which limited-duration grant applications city council should approve for 2025 at a Wednesday, March 5 meeting of the committee of the whole.
A report attached to the agenda for the meeting states that Prince George received 36 applications for two-year grant funding by its Jan. 31 deadline.
The city offers grants worth up to 30 per cent of an applicant’s annual operating budget up to a maximum of $30,000.
To qualify, applicants must be registered not-for-profit societies that have operated for at least two years, must operate within Prince George for the benefit of local residential, their operations must align with the city’s strategic goals, must demonstrate financial need and must provide other sources of confirmed funding.
Applicants that have received other city grants within the last five year must have completed all their reporting relating to that funding. Though groups that have previously received funding through this stream can apply again, the city prioritizes new applicants.
The funding cannot be used to pay down debt, property taxes owed to the city or make major capital purchases.
Of the received applications for 2025, nine were said to not have met the eligibility requirements. That leaves 27 applications worth $664,734.42 to choose from.
