Residential pickup is now being offered to those thinking of donating reusable clothing and small household items in the name of the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
It's a matter of calling Clothesline at 1-800-505-5525 or visiting diabetes.ca/clothesline to schedule a free pick-up right from their front door.
It marks an expansion for Clothesline, which has relied on picking up the items from drop-off bins around the city for the last couple of years, said CDA regional coordinator Boyanne Young.
More of the big red bins are also now in place around Prince George, she added. To find their locations, go to diabetes.ca/dropbox.
Those who donate before the end of July can also enter a contest to win a $5,000 travel voucher that can be used anywhere around the world, or one of ten $500 VISA gift cards. Visit diabetes.ca/pickitup for contest details.
The items are taken to Value Village which pays the CDA for the donations.
- With the help of Clothelines' five-ton truck, the CDA is hosting a "fill-the-truck" event at Cottonwood Island Park this Saturday. It will be located next to the Railway and Forestry Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., which is also when the CDA's weekly walk and talk is held.
Those who bring one or more large garbage bag filled with gently-used items and lunch for one or two people will be provided.
