A Canada-U.S. Enbridge pipeline on Monday spilled an estimated three million litres of oil in Michigan, immediately causing some First Nations to reiterate their concerns over the dangers of a spill along Enbridge's proposed $5.5-billion pipeline through northern B.C.

The Michigan pipeline oil spill's cause is still under investigation by Enbridge and federal, state and local officials.

Oil has leaked into the Kalamazoo River, and dead fish have washed up on the banks of the river and water fowl have been observed stained with oil. State officials are setting up a rehabilitation centre to deal with oil-soaked wildlife.
