Sidewalk paving and creating a new garden area are the reasons for a closure at YXS Airport over the next 10 days.
According to a release, the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) explains the arrival doors will be closed from tomorrow (June 11) until June 21 due to on-going construction and improvements to the building.
The sidewalk, when complete, will meet accessibility standards.
The temporary closure will mainly affect passengers flying into B.C’s northern capital than those leaving the city, but arrivals will collect their bags at the carousels and then exit the building through the departure doors for the time being.
“We are excited to see this project move forward. It’s one more step in making our terminal accessible to all passengers,” said PGAA President and CEO John Gibson in a statement.
There will be no changes to flight times or operations, but passengers are being asked to remain patient.
Projects already underway for YXS include repaving Runway 01/19, expanding and paving the longāterm parking lot, replacing the public address system, and installing a Departure Lounge restaurant.
