The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a series controlled grass burns along the Tachie Highway, starting on Wednesday.
The burns will be conducted along the highway corridor, which links Fort St. James to the Tl’azt’en First Nation community of Tachie on the north shore of Stuart Lake. The burns will be done in the section between the Logan Forest Service Road and Binche, to reduce fire hazard and protect BC Hydro utility infrastructure.
“Burning will proceed only if conditions are suitable and will be completed intermittently throughout April and into May,” a BC Wildfire Service statement issued on Tuesday said. “Staff from the BC Wildfire Service will carefully prepare, control and monitor these fires.”
Smoke may be visible from the communities of Fort St. James, Binche and Tachie.
