A convicted sex offender will be spending Christmas in Prince George.

Benjamin Corey Hart, who served four years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting two little girls, then aged five and seven, will be in the city from Dec. 24 to 26, RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said, confirming a tip received by the Citizen.

"We are aware," Douglass said. "He's on a number of strict conditions including no contact with anyone under the age of 16 and we plan on keeping a close eye on him."

Hart was found guilty in April 2002 of two counts of kidnapping and two counts of sexual assault in the Jan. 4, 2001 attacks.

He cruised the neighbourhood where the girls were sledding before grabbing them and forcing them into his car. He drove them to a gravel pit about 10 kilometres away, where the sexual assaults occurred and then dropped them off on their street.

Hart, who moved to Abbotsford upon being released from prison in April 2007 has consistently denied committing the offences. Hart was 27 years old at the time of his release and has since put on weight, according to a source who asked not to be named.
